The Will of William Prettyman

 

In the Name of God amen William Prettyman being in perfect health mind and memory, Thanks be to God Do make this my Last will and Testament in manner and form Following that is today first and principally I recommend my Soul it the hands of God who gave it hoping for a Glorious and blessed Resurrection Through the merits of Christ Jesus, And I give my Body tot eh Earth to be buried in Decent and Christian manner, And as to what worldly Estate it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I give and bequeath the same in manner and form Following…

Item   I Give and bequeath unto my Dearly beloved wife Sarah Prettyman her riding mare and Sadle and Bridle, And also one featherbed and Furniture and also One Third part of my **** Moveable estate to her and her Heirs forever.

Item   I Give and bequeath unto my Loving Son Burton Prettyman my plantation I now Live on with all the Land ajoining that belongs to me with all the Importence Thereunto belonging, And also one feather feather Bed and furniture and Desk and Cobard and One yoke of Oxen, and Two Thousand Calfs, and Two Ewes and Lambs and One Gun and a young Horse, bridle and Saddle and Six Puter plant and Two puter dishes, and one Negro Boy called Edmon and also my wearing apperill to him and his Hier ands assign form

 

Item  I give and bequeath unto my Loving Daughter Sarah Prettyman One Bed and furniture Six puter  plates, and one Chest Three Chairs and one young mare to her and her Heirs forever.

Item   I give and bequeath unto my Loving Daugheter Magdalen Prettyman One feather Bed and Furniture and Six puter plates and one chest, three Chairs and one young mare to her and her heirs forever.

Item   My will and Desire is that my Loving wife Sarah Prettyman should have the use of all my Negroes During her natural life except the Nero Boy Edmon before Bequeathed, And after her Decease the afs, Negroes to return with their increase to be equally divided among all my Children above mentioned and their heirs forever.

Item   My will and Desire is that after allmy just debts and legacies are Dsitribing and said that all the remainer of my moveable Estate be Equally Divided amonst all my Children above mentioned and heirs forever; and also my two Daughters Naomi Boyce and Margret Houston to **** their other sisters and brother in the Devision of the over pluch of my afs. Estate

Item   I do herby constitute Ordain and appoint my Loving wife Sarah Prettyman and my Loving Brother Robert Prettyman my whole and Sole Executor of this my last will and Testament Disannulling and revoking all other will and Testament that I have heretofore made ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last well and Testament as it **** my hand and seal Twenty fifth day of april Anno Domini One Thousand Severn Hundred Fifty Seven

Wis John Waples; Lewis Hart John Woods:  Memorandum this Thirteenth day of September 1768 the within named John Woods and John Waples two of the witnesses to the within and foregoing will subscribing appeared vefore one Jacob Kollock reg: Appointed for the probate of wills and granting letters of Administration for the County of Sussex on Delaware and being Duly Qualified on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God did Severally Declare that in their Sight presence and hearing the Testator, William Prettyman did sign Seal Publish pronounce and Declare the within and foregoing writing to be his last will and Testament at the doing thereof the said Testator was of a sound and perfect **posing mind memory and judgement atn they  ********together with Lewis West Suscribed the same as Evidence of request in the presence of the Testator.
