Will of John Sinclair
I John Sinclair of Morgan County and the State of Illinois, being desirous to have all my business arranged satisfactoryally [sic] in case of Death do hear by make the following my last will and Testament, to wit; that my son Samuel shall have my share of the place that my son Watson and myself hold in a joint deed the description of it being as follows, it being the southwest quarter of section twenty in township sixteen north of rang nine west in the district of lands subject to sale at Springfield Illinois containing one hundred and sixty acres- be the same more or less. And further I will that the land shall be divided as my sons hearein named have agreed to between themselves.

In the matter of the Estate of John Sinclair deceased.
To the county court of said county, the Petition of Watson Sinclair Respectfully Showeth That John Sinclair departed this life his residence in said County on or about the 25th day of July 1851 after having made and published his last will and testament which is herewith presented to the court for proof.
That said deceased died possessed of certain personal property in the State of Illinois, the value whereof does not exceed the sum of about Two hundred dollars as your petitioner has been informed and believes that said deceased has left him surviving John Sinclair, Mary Thompson, late Mary Sinclair, Elizabeth Boyce, late Elizabeth Sinclair, Watson Sinclair your petitioner and Samuel Sinclair and John W. Sinclair, Polly Ann, Watson, Rachael, Eliza Jane, Sarah, & William minor heirs of Amos Sinclair decd and nine minor children of Hannah Phillips late Hannah Sinclair
, who are the only next of kin of said deceased at the time of his death an inhabitant of the county of Morgan by means whereof as your petitioner is informed and believes the ordering and granting Administration of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits, whereof said deceased died possessed in said State, and also the auditing, allowing and final discharging the Accounts thereof, doth belong unto the County Court of said County: your petitioner therefore prays that you will grant to him Letters Testamentary on said Estate.
